How to Draw a Chinese Woman
Over the years, Chen has learned a lot about modern Chinese women through her design work and personal interactions. Here are some crystal-clear signs she’s into you:
Talking about marriage a bit early on shows she’s thinking long term. And when she gifts you something, it’s more than just a gesture—it has deeper meaning.
Eyes
Probably the most important part of any face is the eyes. Eyes are what makes a person look alive and vibrant. They can say so much without a single word. The eyes are also the first thing that people notice about you.
To draw an Asian eye, you should start with a light pencil line that goes all the way to the inner corner of the eye. Then, taper the pencil stroke to give it that Asian shape. The lower eyelashes are usually not as thick or long, so leave a little space for them. Also, the upper eyelid may have a crease that goes more to one side than another. This is something that is typical of some southeast Asians but not all.
The next step is to draw the iris. You should sketch out the circle lightly to make it easier to erase later on. Don’t forget the little area that separates the sclera from the eyeball (called the caruncula). Make sure that you add this little bit of detail to make your drawing more realistic. Also, the iris should be darker than the rest of the circle. The color can vary, so feel free to experiment with different colors.
Mouth
The mouth is a key element to the expressions of faces. It is what gives a face its emotion such as happy, grumpy, excited and angry. The shape of the lips is also important as it can make a face look slim or fat. For the mouth, use the two circles as guides and draw a middle line that curves around them and meets near the bottom of the upper circle to create the lower lip. Erase the circle guides and then sketch in the upper lip using a curved line. This can be a bit wider or thinner depending on your preference.
Ears
Ears are a great feature to practice with on the value scale- they’re a combination of hard and soft lines around crazy shapes that really don’t come to life until you start shading. It’s ok to scribble some graphite down and then drag your blending stump over it- the more you shade, the better your ears will look!
If you’re interested in a Chinese woman, don’t be afraid to let her know that you’re into her. She may not shout it from the rooftops, but she’ll be sure to show you in subtle ways that you’re on her wavelength!
Hair
Hair is a big deal in the Red Yao people of Huangluo. The hair is sacred, and it sends silent messages to the world, kind of like a public Facebook profile. The strands are often twisted or arranged to show whether the woman is single, married with children, and so on. The hair is often wrapped around the head, and it may have a bun at the front, symbolizing a baby bump. The hair can be straight or wavy and long, with curls being more prominent near the ends. Draw an outline of the hair using curved lines and add other details to the drawing, such as the face. Erase unnecessary lines. Add color to the drawing. You can leave areas that are supposed to shine uncolored, such as the top of the hair and any major curls.
Dress
Chinese women have a distinctive sense of style that sets them apart from women in other parts of the world. They aren’t afraid to push the boundaries when it comes to fashion, and they’re always looking for new ways to express their personal style. From traditional Chinese clothing like the qipao to modern trends, Chinese women are constantly finding new ways to make a statement with their wardrobe.
Chinese clothes are often adorned with intricate designs and beautiful colors, making them ideal for special occasions. For example, the red dress is a popular choice for weddings and Chinese New Year celebrations. The color symbolizes luck and happiness, making it the perfect outfit for these joyous events. Similarly, gold-colored dresses are often worn to celebrate prosperity and wealth. Chinese women also love to wear elaborate accessories to complete their look. Hairpins are a favorite, as they symbolize femininity and beauty. Fans are another popular accessory, as they add a touch of elegance and grace to any outfit.
Many Chinese women love to shop, and they’re not afraid to spend their money on designer clothing. They will frequently visit Taobao, China’s most popular online shopping website, in order to buy the latest trends and styles.
